Gems™ Sensors & Controls (Gems), a global leader in liquid level, pressure, and flow sensors, miniature solenoid valves, and associated assemblies, has won the bronze award in the Product Design & Development Publications 12th Annual Engineering Awards.
Engineers Jim Dockendorff, Mike Riddell, Kevin Downs, Bryan LaBarge, Victor Fonseca and George Lewis designed the ExOsense™ liquid level sensor. ExOsense attaches to the outside surface of plastic tanks or containers, never contacts the liquid and detects the presence or absence of fluid opposite the sensors.
ExOsense offers easy, calibration-free installation for instant, non-contact sensing—it simply attaches via a self-adhesive disc by peeling and sticking to the container.
“We are excited to receive a vote of approval from the marketplace for the truly innovative sensor technology we developed.” Said Muriel Bras-Jorge, President of Gems Sensors & Controls. “ExOsense was created to specifically solve the need of eliminating fluid contamination while improving instrument uptime and maximizing container volume. The ExOsense product design and solid state technology delivers maximum reliability, configurability, and robustness fulfilling a broad range of OEM liquid level applications.”
Winners included: Datakey Electronics Inc. winning the Gold Award winner; and Mobilsonic winning the Silver Award. . Rounding out the top 10 were: SolidWorks, SpaceAge Control, COSMOS, Microchip, Maplesoft, Minco and M Ship Co. The three winning teams receive a crystal globe, which symbolizes how engineering is improving the world.
